According to Panrotas on July 22, recently, the Brazilian National Aviation Administration (Anac) authorized passengers to carry electronic cigarette devices (DEF) on domestic flights in accordance with Article 855/2024 of the Act (RDC) issued by the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa). The Act stipulates that on domestic flights, vape devices for personal use are not considered imported or transported goods. Therefore, as long as they are for private use, vape devices can be carried as hand luggage on domestic flights.
In addition, Anvisa restricts passengers from bringing vape devices into Brazil through luggage on flights departing from abroad. Therefore, vape devices cannot be transported as hand luggage (including private use) on international flights to Brazil.
According to this bill, passengers on domestic flights can carry vape devices for personal use as hand luggage without being considered imported or transported goods. This move provides passengers who love to use vapes with a more convenient and comfortable travel experience.
However, Anvisa also clearly stipulates that passengers are restricted from bringing vape devices into Brazil on flights departing from abroad. On international flights, vape devices cannot be transported into Brazil as hand luggage (including for private use) to ensure the implementation of relevant regulations and safety standards.
