According to other data, only about 100,000 heating devices are sold in tobacco stores every month, far lower than the previous 200,000-300,000 units. However, it should be noted that the “heating equipment” column in the Tobacco Administration’s data includes all related ancillary equipment and accessories, and is not limited to electronic equipment used to heat tobacco products.
More and more Hungarians are also moving away from filled and rolled cigarettes. This method is relatively economical, but sales of fine-cut tobacco are also significantly reduced. Compared with 2023, monthly sales will be 20-30 tons less, and compared with 2020, monthly sales will be 80-100 tons less. Considering that monthly sales in recent years have typically been between 300-400 tons, this represents a decrease of 20-25%.
It should be noted that in 2024, illegal trade in the tobacco industry was unprecedentedly active, and many people purchased tobacco products through illegal channels. These data are not included in the statistics.
