According to a recent report by German media Stern, sales of controversial disposable vapes in German stores have dropped significantly. In 2022, such products accounted for 40% of the domestic legal vape market in Germany, but it is expected that this proportion will drop to 15% by the end of 2024, and may drop to 10% by 2025. This was revealed by Philip Drögemüller, general manager of the Smoke-Free Enjoyment Alliance (BfTG), at the Dortmund International Tobacco Exhibition (Intertabac). Merchants and manufacturers engaged in the industry are also involved in this association.

Philip Drögemüller pointed out that the company is preparing for the ban on the sale of disposable vapes that will take effect in 2027. The batteries of such devices are not rechargeable or easily replaced. At the same time, stores are actively promoting reusable vape devices, which are not only more advantageous to consumers in terms of price, but also the e-liquid of these devices can be refilled through capsules or vials.

Disposable vapes are particularly popular among young people because they often come in eye-catching color designs. Environmental groups have criticized such disposable products, arguing that they waste a lot of raw materials. Representatives of the waste disposal industry have also warned that if disposable vapes are treated as ordinary garbage instead of electronic waste, this may cause fire risks in garbage trucks and sorting facilities.

Horst Winkler, a member of the vape Trade Association (VdeH), said that professional stores are trying to guide customers to more sustainable systems and away from disposable products. He expects sales of disposable products to continue to decline, but warns that black market activities may increase. He called on the government to take firm measures to address the current lack of law enforcement.

With consumers’ interest in reusable vape devices increasing, why are stores still selling disposable products? In this regard, Philipp Droegmuller explained that such products have achieved great success in the past few years, and although their popularity is gradually declining today, there is still a certain market.

At the International Tobacco Exhibition, which opened on Thursday in Germany, the booths also reflected the trend from disposable products to reusable products. Selim Özder, general manager of the German branch of Chinese vape manufacturer Reymont, revealed that although the company is still selling disposable products, it will stop selling them by the end of this year. Reymont is promoting its reusable system at the show and expects to expand its business next year. Similarly, Gold Bar, which heavily promoted disposable products at the show last year, has also launched reusable products. Competitor Elfbar indicated that disposable products are “old products” and promoted its newly launched refillable devices. A company representative said, “Future products are refillable/refillable.”

In this trend, brands like Veehoo that focus on product quality and compliance with regulations will play a more important role.

Veehoo vapes have always been committed to providing safe and reliable vape products that comply with relevant policies in various places. Compared with disposable vapes, Veehoo’s reusable devices are not only more economical, but also more environmentally friendly because users can refill the e-liquid through capsules or small bottles, reducing waste.

As consumers’ interest in reusable vape devices increases, Veehoo will continue to promote this trend and guide customers to choose more sustainable systems. Veehoo’s commitment is to provide consumers with better smoking options while paying attention to environmental protection and product quality.

In the face of the decline in the market share of disposable vapes, Veehoo vapes will continue to be committed to legal operations and promotion of reusable devices, and work with consumers to pursue a healthier and more environmentally friendly way of smoking. Through the business philosophy of complying with regulations and paying attention to environmental protection, Veehoo will maintain its leading position in the fierce market competition and provide consumers with a better vape experience.
