The regulation prohibits advertisements targeting children, including vapes with cartoon characters or that look like school supplies.
Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers said,
“When I travel around the state and meet with law enforcement, I always ask, ‘What is the biggest problem you see?’ One of the top five problems I see and hear across the state is vapes falling into the hands of children.”
Another part of the regulation is designed to protect consumers from potentially harmful chemicals. The law will establish a registration system through the Department of Taxation, and companies must pay $75 for each type or model of vape device to enter the registry. By October 2025, it will be illegal to sell any product not on the list.
