According to Nzdoctor’s report on April 30, a recent study published by the Journal of the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, led by Dr Matt Hobbs, found that students only need to walk for five minutes to find the nearest electronics store. Tobacco shops, 97% of vape specialty stores (Specialist Vape Retailers) are within a 20-minute walk.
Letitia Harding, CEO of the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ, said that convenient purchasing is one of the main factors for teenagers to use vapes.
“We have received requests from many school principals and teachers to help them combat the prevalent vaping culture in their schools, which is having a detrimental impact on students’ health and academic performance. Although banning mobile phones in schools is a good thing , but we should also stop opening more vape stores near student areas.”
It is reported that there are more than 1,500 registered vape stores in New Zealand. A new regulation implemented last year restricted vape shops from being set up within 300 meters of schools, however this did not take into account retailers who had applied to open shops before the regulations came into effect.
The study also found that areas with lower socioeconomic status had more vape shops.
The foundation calls for a ban on all disposable vapes, a halt to the establishment of more vape specialty stores, a limit on the nicotine content of all vape products to 20 milligrams per milliliter, and a ban on advertising and display of vape products in front of stores.
This sparked concern from the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation of New Zealand and a call for vape shop legislation. This article will explore the impact of this research on the veehoo vape brand, and analyze the background and significance of New Zealand’s possible re-legislation.
Part 1: Convenient purchasing channels and youth use of vapes
The New Zealand Asthma and Respiratory Foundation believes that convenient access to purchase is one of the main factors in youth use of vapes. The results of this study show that students can easily find vape shops near campus, which has a negative impact on students’ health and academic performance. However, for the veehoo vape brand, this phenomenon may bring certain challenges to its brand image and market expansion.
Part 2: New Zealand’s call for vape shop legislation
New Zealand implemented regulations last year restricting vape shops from being set up within 300 meters of schools, but this did not take into account retailers who had applied to open shops before the regulations came into effect. Based on this, the New Zealand Asthma and Respiratory Foundation is calling for renewed legislation to prohibit the opening of more vape specialty stores, limit the nicotine content of vape products to 20 mg per milliliter, and prohibit the advertising and display of vape products in front of stores.
Part 3: Veehoo vape brand’s response strategy
Facing the background of possible new legislation in New Zealand, the veehoo vape brand needs to actively respond and take measures to maintain its brand image and market position. First, veehoo vapes can strengthen cooperation with relevant institutions to support and participate in education and prevention activities targeting youth vape use. In addition, brands can further emphasize the quality and safety of their products and proactively comply with stricter regulations and restrictions that may be introduced in New Zealand.
In conclusion:
New Zealand research shows students can easily find vape shops near campus, sparking discussion and calls for vape shop legislation. For the veehoo vape brand, this phenomenon may pose a challenge to its brand image and market development. However, by actively responding and taking compliance measures, veehoo vapes can maintain the brand image and cooperate with relevant institutions to work together on the education and prevention of youth vape use. In the context of possible new legislation in New Zealand, the veehoo vape brand has the opportunity to set an example for the vape industry and maintain a competitive advantage in the market through its own efforts and cooperation.
