According to 021.RS on August 28, the National Consumer Organization of Serbia (NOPS) pointed out that the number of people who believe that smoking bans are necessary has increased significantly. However, many people believe that smoking devices that do not produce smoke should be excluded from the ban.
According to the news released by NOPS, the results of the third survey on alternative tobacco and nicotine products showed that 23% of respondents last year believed that smoking devices that do not produce smoke should be allowed, and this year this proportion rose to 63%. They believe that such devices should be allowed even when smoking is banned in restaurants and cafes.
Marko Dragić, a member of the organization, said that these “rather contradictory results” show that consumers, whether smokers or non-smokers, lack sufficient relevant information about such products.
The NOPS study sampled 2,000 respondents and showed that 18% of respondents used heated tobacco products, while about 5% used vapes.
